oh my aching aches!

I'm going to be 30 tomorrow.  That is officially a grown up right?  I think that when you turn 30 you get to punch a 29 year in the face ka-powie!  Punch the youthful energy right out of that kid!  YAY! (punching 29 one year olds just seems crass and a lot more work to boot).

Goodbye my precious 20's - I adored and loved you while I had you, but I'm moving on to big bad scary adulthood.  I will think only fondly of you.  Even though sometimes you made me cry.

Thank you for not letting any gray hairs through.

Dear Santa

I'm really taken with this cutting board.  If I could find a place that would ship to Canada I would buy 2.  One to use and one to put in the library.

I take it all back

I love the New Kids on the Block and I have since I was 10 - I had just forgotten after all this time.

The show was amazing!  Jordan Knight is still the sexiest performer ever and I honestly believe that he says all his songs directly at me.

Now I just need another 15 years to get over them again.

2008 has been the most fantastic year yet.    :)

Hiya from Edinburgh!

We've been having a terrific time on our vacation. Glasgow was a lot of fun and we walked A LOT. The Elvis Costello show was fantastic - my favourite show of 2008.

This city is amazing and there is so many interesting things to see. We climbed the Sir Walter Scott Monument (200+ feet) today and ate sandwiches in a park with a terrific view of Edinburgh Castle. A week left to cram as much culture as we can. WHEEE!!!!

Next stop: Deep fried mars bars.

I've been consumed by the new Arcade Fire album.  I'm filled with relief that it wasn't a let down compared to Funeral.  Although the first track doesn't explode like "Neighbourhood (tunnels)" did, the album as a whole is very satisfying.

I've been listening to it so much that I haven't had a chance to give the new Modest Mouse a good listen.

Work has been very busy.  I've taken on some new projects that will no doubt be the cause of much elogated and constant stress. yay!

now, back to WoW.

I'm not afraid to go the lonely road and admit that I loved the Oscar show last night.  I thought Ellen was great - most of the little montages were fun and I was happy with the very predictable big wins.  Plus John C. Rielly sang - I mean, that's pretty great right?

Granted I was in another room for many of the speeches - I just like watching the presenters some out all dolled up and try to act professional when we know there is serious boozing going down - why would they need so many seat fillers if otherwise?
Favourite Oscar dress was by far Abigail Breslin.  The girl looked like a dreamy cupcake with sugar flowers and marzipan lace - she was so darling throughout the show.

Still,  no matter how much fun it was to see everyone looking so pretty and being so happy - four hours is way.too.long.

je suis mal

I came down with a cold yesterday. It hit me really fast and really hard so I'm hoping that it will leave as quickly as it came.

Today I am reaping the benefits of living with my husband and in-laws. There is nothing like a loving husband and a Mom to make you feel loved and cared for.

No matter how much you like your job, a day off always makes you want another day off. In today's case especially. It took 6 hours to get home from Saint John today. 98% of the drive had crap roads with crap visibility. I wasn't even the one driving and I'm beat from the stress.
